Last week, another edition of the ML-in-PL conference dedicated to machine learning and organized by the ML-in-PL Association took place. The event gathered nearly 700 participants and can certainly be considered one of the most important conferences in Poland devoted to artificial intelligence technologies. Neurosoft had the honor of participating in the conference, presenting the results of its research in the form of a poster titled “VLOOP3D – Practical Deep ANN Implementations on Embedded Devices.”
This was already the ninth edition of the conference in this series, which – as every year – attracted great interest. Over the course of four days, the organizers prepared a range of engaging lectures, discussion panels, a poster session featuring 64 presentations, and hands-on workshops for participants. The main part of the conference took place at the Copernicus Science Centre, where all three lecture halls were nearly full each day.
“I’m very glad I had the opportunity to take part in this event, and I regret that it was my first time. Engaging lectures and discussions, fascinating personalities, and many young ML enthusiasts made it an exceptionally inspiring experience that I hope to make a regular part of my calendar. On top of that, the organization was excellent, and the organizers truly deserve thanks for their efforts” — said Cezary Dołęga, who represented Neurosoft at the conference.
As part of the conference, participants also had the opportunity to present their most interesting ideas. Neurosoft eagerly took this chance, showcasing its latest method for vehicle detection and classification using an intelligent ANPR camera with on-edge processing. During the poster session, the company presented the operation of the new VLOOP3D algorithm, which enables the reconstruction of a 3D model of moving vehicles using the structure-from-motion technique. A key component of the solution is the use of a hardware NPU accelerator that computes optical flow in real time using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN).
